Natural Horsemanship

Natural horsemanship is the philosophy of working with horses by appealing to their natural instincts. It involves communication techniques derived from wild horse observation in order to build a horse-human partnership that closely resembles the relationships that exist between horses.

"When people think of natural horsemanship that could mean a lot of things. It isn't natural for a horse to be around people, and it's not natural for a person to be sitting on him either. When we use these words we speak about what's natural for the horse to do within his own boundaries."

PMF Training

The primary object of our training is to build a realtionship of trust with our horses, and it is this relationship that is most important to us above all other things. We want our horses to WANT to be with us. We want them to feel safe, be calm, curious, trusting, willing, responsive and respectfull, just as they would be in their natural herd environment.

We strongly believe that teaching horses through intimidation, mechanics, pain and fear do NOT result in the type of relationship that benefits both horse and handler.

Through Natural Horsemanship it is possible to eliminate fear, build a system of communication and create respect and rapport in order to develope a deep, seamless and mutually beneficial human-horse relationship.
